BIOGRAFIA
Come tatuatore professionista, la mia passione per la decorazione della forma umana mi ha condotto in modo naturale verso il fashion design. Per me il corpo è una tela enigmatica e interessante, con tutti i suoi vantaggi e limiti.
Quando progetto, mi piace prendere ispirazione da molti ambiti diversi, spesso totalmente estranei alla moda, per poi combinarli tutti insieme e ottenere così un risultato finale. La sperimentazione è un aspetto fondamentale del mio lavoro e amo mescolare il classico con l’inaspettato. Per me è importante che i capi siano fantastici visti da lontano, ma che a un esame più attento rivelino molti dettagli nascosti.
Anche la tattilità è molto importante, specialmente quando disegno i vestiti, poiché il materiale sarà costantemente a contatto con la pelle.
Oltre che dalla moda, sono anche fortemente influenzato dall’arte e dalla musica moderna e contemporanea.
Mentre studiavo mi sono interessato molto alla sostenibilità e cerco sempre di tenerne conto quando lavoro.
Originally a professional tattoo artist, my passion for decorating the human form caused a natural transition into fashion design. For me the body is a much more enigmatic and interesting canvas, with all of its benefits and limitations.
When I design, I like to take inspiration from many diverse areas, often totally unrelated to fashion, and combine them all together to achieve the final result. Experimentation is a key aspect to my work, and I love to mix the classic with the unexpected. It is important to me that garments look fantastic from a distance, but also have many hidden details upon closer inspection.
Tactility is also very important to me and it is especially important when designing clothing, as it will constantly be in contact with the skin.
Aside from fashion, I am also heavily influenced by modern and contemporary art and music.
While I was studying I became very interested in sustainability, and always try to consider this when I work.
PROGETTO
Ho usato molti tessuti e materiali diversi per questa collezione. Il mio punto di ispirazione iniziale era l’architettura brutalista, ciò ha influenzato molte delle mie forme e sagome. Ho deciso di mantenere questo feeling in alcune delle mie scelte di materiali; potete notare gli indumenti realizzati con il nastro di plastica dai cantieri, così come le mollette di plastica usate per tenere chiusi gli indumenti.
Ho preso ispirazione per i materiali anche da influenze contrastanti e ho usato tessuti storici britannici come tweed di lana e tartan. Invece di usare i tessuti così come sono, ho raccolto capi di seconda mano da negozi di beneficenza, li ho decostruiti e ho creato i miei patchwork ispirati alle maglie da canottaggio a righe e da rugby. La maglieria è stata realizzata con tessuti di scarto industriali pre-consumo.
La collezione è stata chiamata “Under Construction” per rappresentare non solo l’ispirazione architettonica, ma anche per riflettere i cambiamenti che stanno avvenendo attualmente nel settore della moda, inoltre molti dei capi trasmettono una sensazione di “incompiuto”.
I used many varying fabrics and materials for this collection. My initial inspiration point was brutalist architecture and this influenced many of the shapes and silhouettes. I decided to keep this feeling in some of my material choices, and you can see garments made from plastic tape from building sites, as well as plastic clamps used to hold the garments closed.
I also took material inspiration from contrasting influences and used British heritage fabrics such as wool tweeds and tartans. Rather than just use the fabrics as is, I gathered second hand garments from charity shops, deconstructed them, and created my own patchworks that were inspired by striped rowing and rugby jerseys. Knitwear was made from pre-consumer industrial waste fabrics.
The collection was called “Under Construction” to represent not only the architectural inspiration, but also to reflect the changes that are currently happening in the fashion industry, and many of the garments also have an unfinished feeling to express this.
